A Girl Can Dream

Posted on May 30th, 2013 at 11:05 PM

It may be a few years down the road but nevertheless, my dream is to retire in a house overlooking the ocean. I’d love to wake up to seagulls and the waves crashing into the shore. I’d like to find a place in Sarasota, Florida at Siesta Key. However, Vero Beach real estate is fine with me, too. I’ve always been in love with the ocean and wouldn’t mind walking the beach every night at sunset.

Regardless, it’s years down the road and plans to buy a house are far off, let alone a beach house. Trulia has gorgeous real estate in Vero Beach. So many homes are way out of my reach but I’d love to live in one.

Again, buying a house is very far down the road but a girl can dream, right? We’ve got a lot to do before we can even think about buying a house. In the meantime, we plan to rent and get our lives and futures together and quietly dream about the day we can buy a home overlooking the ocean.

House Hunting

Posted on December 11th, 2012 at 12:22 AM

With the advancement of technology, even in recent years, people use the internet more for things that the internet isn’t technically required for. For instance, if you want to buy a house, no one goes to the news paper or a realty company directly to find listings. House hunting can be as simple as typing, “real estate sunset beach nc“, and BAM! A million listings fill your screen.

No one has to do it the old-fashioned way anymore. For some people, they find the new way much easier and convenient. And it is. You don’t have to be bothered to TALK to anyone until you are sure.

For the past few months, we have been house hunting on and off. Our goal is to have a house big enough for the 7 of us (plus Bobby1) and 8 animals. I told my mom that I don’t care as long as we have a well fenced-in yard and TWO bathrooms. My mom is looking at one now and as long as we can get the down payment in the bank and hold it for 2 months, my brother can get approved for the loan.

It would be a dream come true for my family to own our own home. Andrew and I don’t plan on living there forever. Just long enough to get on our feet. My mom needs it the most because the kids need a stable, secure home to grow up in.

In the past few weeks, I’ve seen many of my twitter friends post about house hunting or buying a house. I know it has to be an exciting feeling to buy a house. I can’t wait to experience it with my family.

If you own your own home or haven’t bought one yet, did/will you use a realty company or shop around on the internet?

Obnoxious Toys

Posted on October 14th, 2012 at 11:11 AM

With Christmas around the corner (it’s really not but everyone seems to think it is), it’s time for shopping and gift giving. Since, I spend a significant amount of time with these kids, I tell my mother that she isn’t allowed to get any loud toys. Usually, she does well. However, someone else always gets my brother or sister a loud toy or musical instrument. You know those family members, the ones who go through the toy aisle pressing every button trying to find the most annoying. Then you watch your kids open it, fall in love with it, and you look at them like, “Thanks..” I loathe those toys. Things like, loud-firing guns or things that come with whistles (I can’t tell you how many whistles I have thrown out over the years). It especially sucks when those kind of toys are given to toddlers who don’t listen when you tell them to stop.

Even though, Breya has asked for a marvelous microphone or a karaoke machine (she thinks she’s Victorious), she isn’t getting one. We just don’t have a house big enough for me to avoid hearing it. If her daddy wants to buy her one, that’s fine. He can keep it at his house. However, until she gets a TV in her room, she can’t have one.

Dear 16 year old self,

You think you know everything and you think everything is the worst. You are so wrong. (more…)

I had plans for this weekend. I had so much to do like blog, homework, fix a site for a design job, clean the house (which I finally was able to do). Only problem was that ast week I got Sims 3 Supernatural. All week I didn’t get a chance to play it. So, on Friday, I finished cleaning the house and I sat down at my desk for a break. I had done my homework and I messaged Angie and said that “I’ve done a lot today and I’m taking a break. I’m going to play the Sims.” That little break turned into a marathon lasting 3 days. I did nothing else last weekend. However, I don’t regret it. I have the week to finish up what I need to do and another break this weekend (No KIDS!! :D Damn, you’d swear they were mine.)

Anyway, I have to work on Andrew’s job site. (I also have to work on our business site. Oops :\) There is nothing in place yet but once I finish up the homepage, they are going to present it to the higher-ups and hopefully bring me on to redo their site. They paid $25,000 for a website built entirely in dreamweaver which, if not careful, leaves you with broken links. Andrew, who is more advanced in web development than the average IT guy should be, has been fixing these mistakes to keep the business with a functional website. They are, however, getting yelled at because the company who built the site is supposed to be making the changes. The marketing department has decided to do away with their contract with them and have the site converted to WordPress, which is what I shall be doing. I’ve already converted the layout to a WordPress theme on my own server and that is what they will be presenting to them. It will help a lot in the future as I plan to make my focus on WordPress design and development.

So much to do and so little time now that the children are back in school. On top of school we have homework (theirs and mine), dinner, cheer/football practice, and showers to fit into a short 4 hours. Things are getting stressful. I’m trying not to crack under the pressure.

Andrew also ordered me a card for my DSi so now I can play Pokemon without having to borrow Breya’s DS (which used to be mine) and I am trying to figure out how to get Pokemon Yellow (for Game Boy Color) on my DSi, which apparently isn’t as hard I thought. I would love to play Pokemon Yellow, again. It was my favorite Pokemon game, to date, as Pikachu can follow you. Not to mention, he is also your starter. :D

So, along with all of that I am also trying to find time to read the Harry Potter books. Andrew and I just finished watching the movies and I have NEVER been in love with a series as I have become to love Harry Potter. I watched the movies but I am still left with questions that I hope to have answered by reading the books. Years ago, I started to read them but didn’t make it through the first 2 chapters. Angie says I should have pushed on because it gets interesting after that. It sure as hell does! I can’t wait to read them.

If you’ve read this far, you can have a cookie. This short post turned into a book about my life over the last week. Thanks.
