October is Anti-Bullying Month

Posted on October 4th, 2012 at 10:00 AM

If you didn’t already know, October is National Anti-bullying month. This is one of those things that I take seriously as, like many children, I was bullied. I had issues with depression throughout middle school until I finally dropped out of high school and entered an online homeschool program. I contemplated suicide often. Would I have actually done it? I honestly could not tell you. I knew I didn’t want to be here any longer but I also feared what happened after. Thankfully, I pushed through it. However, many kids don’t.

What’s worse now is that bullying has gone high-tech. There are a ton of ways to make someone miserable without ever meeting them. Now, these kids can’t even escape the bullies when they go home. It’s easy to tell someone that, “It gets better.” I heard that so many times and figured I was the one that they would bully forever. Yes, it does get better but these kids can’t see that. Not yet. Sometimes, they never get to see it. Bully needs to stop. I keep saying kids but adults can be bullied too. It’s usually unreported because they feel they need to ignore it or be strong but really it gets to them. It gets to all of us. It’s a huge problem in our country and it effects EVERYONE.

Recently, we lost 3 local teenagers to suicide, 2 being from the same school. That should never happen. A child should never have to feel that there is no help. No one to turn to. Remind your children that they can come to you with anything, at anytime and don’t badmouth others in front of your children. They pick up on these things.

This video has been circling the internet over the past few days and this woman is my hero. She spoke up and addressed this and wonderfully turned this experience into a lesson. Watch the video and share your comments on this post.

The Queen’s Meme

1. Are you always on time or just a tad late?
I’m always on time.

2. Is there someone in your life that irritates you regularly about not being on time?
My grandma is always late. Drives me nuts.

3. Can you think of a time when you were late for something and it was REALLY a big deal?
I was late for class once. I forgot to charge my phone the night before so I left it on the charger (I had no watch) and continued on my normal morning schedule. I somehow ended up 30 minutes late for class.
4. Do prompt perky people irritate you? (oh, that was a Freudian blog slip)
No. I don’t know many people who brag about being on time.

5. If you were on your way to work and had five minutes to get there, would you stop in the road to rescue a crossing turtle?
Absolutely. :)

6. Have you ever had to actually punch a time clock?
Nope. Never. I’ve had to “clock in”.

7. What is your standard “excuse” when you are tardy?
I lost track of time or I blame it on the kids.

Super Desk!

Posted on June 12th, 2012 at 9:00 PM

Have you ever had to share a desk with someone. Not just, 1 computer and 1 desk. I mean you share one desk with multiple computers. Andrew and I do that. It wouldn’t be too bad because our desk is long but we have 1 computer chair. We also don’t have enough room to use 2 swivel computer chairs. We found the same model of desk on Staples website. Not the same color but the exact same style of desk. If we get another one and buy welding equipment to merge them, we’ll have enough room to work comfortably together. We would also have a SUPER DESK. :D I think it would work out great since Andrew and I spend a significant amount of time on our computers. I use my laptop more than anything else since my desk is usually occupied. I would like to spend more time at my PC, though since it’s a lot easier to focus on homework, designs, and just plain surfing. I mean, I could kick him out of the chair once in a while but he doesn’t have a laptop like I do, so it would be mean. Heh. The desk costs about $100 bucks and we have to room to make a super desk, so I might push him to do it. It would definitely help a lot since he moves all of his garbage to MY side of the desk. Grr. :\

Tax Season is over, thank goodness

Thank god, my mom does my taxes. Seriously, I’m not sure how I’d even begin to go about that. Since, I don’t have an income, my mom mainly does it as a part of her since I qualify as a dependent since I am a full time student. Without her, I’d probably have to call a raleigh accounting firm to give me tax assistance. I can only imagine how much they would charge to do it for me. Being an adult sucks. :(

Moving & Holidays

Posted on November 28th, 2011 at 10:16 PM

So, we are finally settled in. The kids are getting registered for school tomorrow and will probably start Wednesday. I’m pretty sure Pennsylvania is the only state to treat the first day of hunting season as a school holiday.

We have unpacked all of downstairs. My room is still under construction. For the most part I’m loving this move. It’s kind of hard to tell since we have so much going on and no time to relax. Especially with us having to work around the holidays. Andrew has gone through a bunch of it and gotten it cleaned up. He’s amazing.

We had a very relaxed Thanksgiving. Christina and Mike came over and we sat and relaxed. We worked all night and day on dinner and it was gone in 10 minutes. Holiday cooking sucks so much. We didn’t invite the rest of my family, my aunt and uncles, like we have any other year. We’ve pretty much given up on them. They don’t call, they don’t come around, they didn’t even call my grandma for her birthday. They don’t care. They only call when they need something like Andrew to fix the computer or to fix a picture for my aunt. I give up. I don’t care. They aren’t really family when it comes down to it. They had dinner at their house this year and didn’t even bother to invite my grandmother. They haven’t had dinner at their house in quite a few years and now they do, the know we’ve moved, and know it’s my grandma’s first year without her husband.

I hope to get back to the blogging like I was soon. I don’t want to blog my every thought but I’d like to make substantial posts at least once or twice a day. Maybe I can get the paid posts back up again and kick some of those out. Also, I have a restricted post coming up soon so if you aren’t subscribed yet, do it now. Usually my restricted posts are for the X-rated and Juicy gossip posts.
